There is much more that unites Christ’s followers than divides them when it comes to the Bible. One would never know it when looking in the yellow pages under the heading Churches! But while some churches choose to emphasize the way they are different, we want to emphasize those Truths that are vital; the ones all of Christ’s followers can agree on while still being willing to talk about the other.
Our HCC Beliefs about God
There is one living God who created, sustains, and rules all that exists. He eternally exists in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19 Colossians 1:16,17,18 Revelations 1:8
Jesus was sent by the Father to live on earth. He was fully God and fully human and yet never violated God’s standards. Jesus willingly laid down His life and after three days, rose from the grave. In doing this, Jesus paid the full price of humanity’s sin. Luke 1:31-35 1 Corinthians 15:32 Corinthians 5:21
The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to convict people of their sin and to live in and empower those who believe in Jesus Christ. He is a constant helper, teacher and guide.
Our HCC Beliefs about People
God created people in His image and everyone matters to God. Genesis 5:12
All people are sinners and need God’s forgiveness. Romans 3:23
Those who become aware of their need for God’s forgiveness and trust in Christ will receive forgiveness as a free gift from God and will become a part of God’s eternal family. John 3:16 & 17 Ephesians 2:8 & 9
Our HCC Beliefs about the Church, the Bible and Christ’s Return
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and all believers are members. Ephesians 4:15- 16
The Bible is God’s inspired word to people, the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. 2 Timothy 3: 16
Jesus Christ will return to earth for His people and will then judge the earth. He will usher in an age of eternal blessings for those who have believed. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 & 17
